How to Get the Most Out of your Medicare Advantage Plan

Here are three steps you can take now to get the most out of your health care plan:

  1. Use Your Over-the-Counter Drug CardIf you chose a plan with the OTC card, your card will be sent in the mail with directions. Your card will have a pre-loaded monthly dollar amount and can be used at participating stores. You’ll use your card to pay for items, like vitamins, cough drops, bandages and much more!
  2. Join the Rewards and Incentives Program*As a Blue Cross Medicare AdvantageSM member, you may be able to earn a gift card when you get your Annual Wellness Exam, get a flu shot, and complete other healthy actions. You can start participating today after an easy registration.
  3. Schedule your Annual Wellness Exam – With no copay and no cost to you, the Annual Wellness Exam is a great way to take charge of your health, ask questions and get tips from your doctor. Make sure to bring along your Annual Wellness Exam Checklist. You and your doctor can use this tool as a guide during your visit.

Have a few more minutes? Here are three more tools available to you as a Medicare Advantage member:

  1. Signup for LifeTimes® – LifeTimes is our quarterly e-newsletter filled with benefit information and articles. You can sign up to start seeing newsletter emails or read the most recent edition found on the LifeTimes website.
  2. Call the 24/7 NurselineFeeling under the weather? Our nurses can answer your health questions. They can also help you decide if you should go to an urgent care center, the emergency room, or doctor’s office. Plus, when you call, you can access an audio library of more than 1,000 health topics – from allergies to surgeries – with more than 500 topics available in Spanish.
  3. Join Blue Access for Members℠ (BAM℠) – BAM is your one-stop online source for your plan details, claim status and benefits. You also will find health and wellness tools. Sign up online using your member number found on your member ID card.
