Gastric Sleeve

I am planning on having Gastric Sleeve next month. I was never told that I needed the last 3 years of documented weights. I was also told that I did not need a pysch evaluation because I have not had an existing history of pyschological problems. Now here it is a month before the anticipated surgery and I have no clue what is really actually needed for insurance. Please help clarify for me and the surgeon. Thanks!

  • hello, I'm replying to your gastric sleeve message, did you ever have any luck having it? I'm in a similar situation & would appreciate any advise.
  • Hi Dottie! Yes I did have it. I had it done on 12/30/2016. So far I have lost about 80 pounds. I did however have many complications. I ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis, kidney stones, and a terrible uti. I was in there for 7 days. I can only eat about 4 ounces at a time and I get sick very easily if I over eat or drink to soon after eating. Its hard for me to stomach much protein in which we need a lot of to basically survive. You can pretty not eat out at all anymore especially fast food. It does get depressing when you do go out to eat because you can only eat a few bites and can't drink anything and you cant have the foods that you use to enjoy. I know this all sounds negative and if I would have ate better and stuck to a routine I feel like I could have done a better job at getting the weight off without surgery. That is my experience but there are so many people that did have great outcomes and they do not get sick etc. Each one os us is completely different and what works for me may not for you. I hope that whatever you decide is an excellent choice for you and I wish you success!
