***** URGENT HELP - How to add New Born baby to existing policy 2017? ******
Hi,

I am having health insurance plan with BCBSIL purchased directly with BCBSIL customer support (sales agent i guess) team over the phone for 2017. I have my baby born on December-10th-2017 and would like to add my new born baby into my existing 2017 health insurance account.


Here are my questions:
1. When i called the member service, they are routing the call to sales agent to add new born baby to existing account but the sales agent saying they can add it only for 2018 plan but not for 2017. Does membership service doesn't have option to add new born baby dependent to existing policy 2017?

2. One time, the sales agent says YES they can add my new born baby to my existing 2017 policy but they want me to pay premium for December 2017 for all 3 of my family members (Myself, my wife and New born baby). I said, i already paid premium for Dec 2017 during end of November month itself for myself and my wife then why do i need to pay again for myself and my wife for Dec 2017? They replied, i have only 2 options.

Option 1: Pay December 2017 premium for all 3 of us (though paid for 2 already) now and attach new born baby to my existing account 2017.


Option 2: Purchase child only plan for 2017 and pay premium for only the child. - it's not going to attach new born baby to my existing 2017 account.

Is it so complex to add new born baby to existing 2017 health insurance account with BCBSIL?


3. Does BCBSIL not having access to members to add new born baby into their existing account through online portal after i login to my account BCBSIL?

4. What's the quickest way to add new born baby to existing account and not future Year?
