Some health problems can be avoided. And there’s a good way to start avoiding them: preventive check-ups and screenings.

Exercising, eating right, getting enough sleep and staying away from things that can harm your health, like tobacco, are all ways we can stay healthy and prevent certain health problems. And setting up a plan for preventive health screenings and exams can help, too. Preventive care can help find problems before they start

Your health plan covers preventive screenings and care with no out-of-pocket costs* like copays or coinsurance as long as you visit a doctor in your plan’s provider network. This is true even if you haven’t met your deductible. Preventive services are provided for women, men and children of all ages.

Preventive care services include:

  • General wellness exams each year
  • Recommended vaccines
  • Screenings for things like diabetes, colorectal cancer or depression

Our preventive services flier shows what vaccines, health screenings and other wellness steps you can take to stay healthy.

Talk with your doctor if you have any health concerns, and ask which preventive services are right for you.

*Preventive services at no cost applies only to members enrolled in non-grandfathered health plans. You may have to pay all or part of the cost of preventive care if your health plan is grandfathered. To find out if your plan is grandfathered or non-grandfathered, call the customer service number on your member ID card.
