Cold, the Flu or Allergies? Sometimes it’s Hard to Tell!

When was the last time you woke up feeling stuffy and sore all over? Maybe you immediately thought you had a cold, maybe you were convinced it was the flu, or maybe you were blaming allergies. All three have similar, overlapping symptoms, so it’s not uncommon to confuse them.

The flu tends to come on much quicker and severely, so be sure to get your flu shot! Your health plan probably covers a flu shot at no cost to you, but make sure you go to a location that files the claim directly with us. Many pharmacies and retail clinics will provide the flu shot and then give you the documentation so you can file the claim yourself and receive reimbursement later. If you want to avoid that process and skip paying out of pocket up front, see your PCP.

IA cold, or any other respiratory infection, can be serious. However, there are several steps you can take to protect yourself. How will you prevent a respiratory infection this year?
