My Coverage Explained

What’s the Deal? Blue365 Deals Explained

As a community manager for BCBSIL, a big portion of my work day is spent answering member questions on our social media pages. These questions can be anything from ‘how to print a new ID card online ’, to ‘how to log into BAM ’, or ‘where to find a doctor in-network ’. In the summer of 2014, I realized a lot of these questions were evolving and I was starting to see more questions about fitness equipment, weight loss programs and details about recipes that we’ve posted on our Facebook  and Twitter  pages. That’s when it hit me—our members are people just like me! They’re fitness-conscious and health-savvy, and they might want to save a few dollars in the process of living healthy! That’s why Blue365  was founded with these things in mind—to help Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois members just like you and me save money on the things that keep us in tip-top shape.

Eligibility:
Any member of a participating Blue Cross Blue Shield plan is eligible for Blue365! The program also applies to any member of the Federal Employee Program (FEP) across the country. With Blue365, you can browse regularly updated available discounts. Discounts fall into 5 different categories for BCBSIL members:   Lifestyle, Fitness, Healthy Eating, Wellness and Personal Care. Some of the really cool previously featured discounts include hearing aids, weight loss coaching programs, workout apparel, pedometers and fitness club memberships.

A Few Notes to Get Started:

  • Blue365 deals change periodically, so if you see one that you like, go ahead and take advantage of it while it’s still available! It may not be there the next time you log in.
  • There’s no maximum number of deals that you’re allowed to take advantage of at any time, so feel free to try them all if you’d like!
  • The discounts change based on what the vendor is offering, so there’s no set time frame that each deal is available.
  • It’s important to understand that Blue365 is neither extra insurance coverage, nor is it a health plan. It’s a unique way to save money on health and wellness items and is an extra perk to your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of IL health coverage.
  • You aren’t obligated to use any of the discounts if none of them appeal to you.

Here’s how to get going on savings:
1.    Create a free account. Be sure to have your BCBSIL member ID card  handy for this.
2.    Click “Browse All Deals” on the top right of the screen.
3.    When you see the discount you like, click on “view details”. (You’ll either be given a coupon code that you can apply directly to your purchase on the vendor’s site, or you’ll be automatically re-routed to the vendor’s site and the discount will have already been applied for you.)
4.    Sign up to get weekly deals sent directly to your email. It’s only one email a week!
