In most cases, you can only sign up for a health insurance plan during the open enrollment period from Nov. 1 through Jan. 16. Sign up by December 15 for coverage starting on January 1. Any other time, you can sign up if you have a change that qualifies you for a new plan during a special enrollment period. During this time, you can apply for a BCBSIL Individual health plan for yourself or your family.
Outside open enrollment, you can’t sign up unless you have a “life event.” If you change jobs, get married or have a baby, you can get health insurance during a special enrollment period. Act quickly, though. You only have 60 days after your life event to enroll. During this time, you can apply for a BCBSIL Individual health plan for yourself or your family.

I would like to purchase health insurance for my youngest son that lives at home. He is 20 years old. I am going off cobra and will be transitioning to Medicare but can't do that until july 2021. I may also be interested in gap insurance from now until I can begin medicare plan b.
