This article is intended for HMO members enrolled in an employer health insurance plan.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) provides coverage for your health care. But you and your doctor are in the best position to make decisions about treatment.

Talk with your doctor about your concerns and care. This can help you make informed decisions.

BCBSIL does not get involved in choosing your treatment. Your network medical group may review certain referrals or procedures related to your care. If you disagree with them, you can request an appeal from BCBSIL.

For more information, call the customer service number on your BCBSIL member ID card.
