You can also access BAM from any computer. BAM lets you manage your health plan online. There are tabs for many types of information you might need to know.
Home TabYou can find out a lot just from the Home tab, including your copay amounts for office and other health visits, if your plan has them.
You can also check the amount of your deductible. That’s the amount you pay on some visits and treatments each year before your insurance starts to pay.
Another figure you may want to note is your coinsurance amount. Some plans call for you to pay a percentage of your medical costs until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum, which you can also see on the BAM Home tab.
Your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum reset each calendar year. So if you’re on the way to meeting your deductible, you can think about grouping tests and procedures into one calendar year, which could save you money.
My Coverage Tab Next, check out the My Coverage tab. You can view more plan details and print a verification of coverage letter, if needed. You can use the menu on the left to find out more about your pharmacy and other benefits.
Claims Center Tab The Claims Center tab lists your claims for the past 18 months. It’s also where you will find your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) records. The EOB shows how the claims were processed. It will show the service supplied, what your plan covers and your financial responsibility.
My Health Tab The My Health tab provides a wealth of information. It includes our Wellness Guidelines and a list of covered preventive services. It also lists other benefits that may be available to you. For example, your plan may include telehealth visits. These types of visits allow you to get care for many non-emergency health issues by mobile app, online video or phone.
Doctors and Hospitals Tab Don’t miss the Doctors and Hospitals tab. Use the Provider Finder® tool to search for doctors and other health care providers in your network. Since you are logged in to your account, you will see personalized search results based on your health plan and network.
You can also find dentists and pharmacies in your network. If your health plan has preferred pharmacies, you will typically pay the lowest copay/coinsurance amount for your prescriptions at these locations.
Getting to know more about your health benefits will help you make better choices and give you peace of mind throughout the year. The more you know, the better you can look after your health. Log in to BAM today to make the most of your health care coverage.
When it comes to taking care of your health, it’s good to have a plan. And the beginning of the year is a good time to plan the next 12 months.
Start by scheduling a yearly exam. That’s the time to talk to your doctor about your total health, your risk factors and your family medical history. Those things determine what health screenings you need each year.
Health screenings can help spot a problem before it becomes a serious health issue. Preventive screenings are a big part of fighting disease. Many long-term illnesses can be prevented or managed better when found early.
Your benefits include some preventive services with no out-of-pocket costs* for you when you see a doctor in your health plan’s network.
Services include certain screenings, vaccines and other types of care. To find out more, log in to Blue Access for MembersSM. Click the My Health tab and scroll down to the Preventive Services heading for a list.
