1 1/4 cup sliced button mushrooms
8 ounces ground beef, 20% lean
1/2 tablespoon canola oil
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
4 lettuce leaves
8 slices tomato
Directions:
- In a large skillet, heat the canola oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until tender and liquid has been absorbed, ~4-6 minutes. Allow to cool before continuing to the next step.
- Once mushrooms are cool, pour out any excess liquid and place in the bowl of in a food processor. Pulse a few times to roughly chop, then transfer to a large bowl.
- Add the ground beef and mix well. Scoop by ½ cup portions, and form into 4 patties. Cook on a skillet or grill until internal temperature reaches 165F.
- Assemble burgers with additional toppings as desired.
